Leading franchise group Choice Hotels Asia Pacific has appointed Scott Edgar as its new APAC Sales Director to lead the sales team across the region.
Mr Edgar comes from Wyndham Hotels & Resorts where he most recently held the role of Regional Director, Global Sales for Southeast Asia & Pacific Rim.
With over 25 years’ experience in travel and tourism, Mr Edgar is passionate about the industry having forged a career through the airline and hospitality sectors with various roles with Ansett, Accor and Wyndham.
“I am thrilled to be joining Choice Hotels at this critical time for the industry and look forward to growing the sales team as we rebound from the recent challenges.”
Choice Hotels Senior Director, Strategy, Sales & Marketing Kari Hunter welcomed Scott to the team during this time of recovery and growth within Choice Hotels and the industry.
“Scott brings a depth of knowledge of our region and the corporate travel industry. We are excited to have his experience driving and guiding a growing team and working with franchisees to expand our corporate and leisure business.
“The first few months of 2022 have seen a return of confidence in business travel, with strong growth in our regional properties and 95 percent month on month growth across corporate business. We are delighted to have Scott on board to drive this growth,” she said.
Mr Edgar said he was looking forward to working with key consortia and corporate clients to drive room nights and reservations across the group.
“The pandemic has changed the way we think about travel for work, especially in regional Australia. I am eager to work with our properties and customers to lead initiatives that continuously improve the working travel experience,” he said.
Mr Edgar will also oversee the Choice Sports program, an initiative that delivers corporate rate discounts and rebates for sporting clubs and associations across Australia and New Zealand when their members stay at any one of the 170+Choice Hotels across the region.
